The Chillitees: Extra Rice

Written November 02. 2006 in Reviews (Music)

The Chillitees, it's double L and double E.  This new OPM group has succesfully infused house, trance, r&b, and OPM music together.

The album, which has 11 ORIGINAL tracks and 4 remixes is very refreshing to hear.  The release of the album is a break from the popular music nowadays.  "Sama Na", the first single to be released from the group's initial effort is very organic.  It has a tinged of soul, r&b, trance and that groovy bass guitar in the background.  The crystalline and soulful voice of lead singer, Uela Basco, is a breath of fresh air wherein most singers today in the industry are measured by their ability to belt out high note, which becomes so irritating.

The album dwells on the love, relationship and life.  The lyrics are not something out of the ordinary and is totally relatable.

If you are in for some relaxing music or like what you hear when you are sipping your caffe latte at Starbuck's, then this CD is a must grab.

Rating:  4 1/2 stars.
